Help fund our Archaeological discoveries – Please donate!
Govan Heritage Trust is hoping you can help us raise £10,000 for a project that will transform the future of the Govan Stones and Govan Old. We’re raising money for a 2-year project that will showcase the archaeology and natural heritage of Govan Old’s 1,500 year-old graveyard. But, here’s the interesting bit…… if we raise this £10,000 it will help unlock over £2,000,000 of funding that has already been pledged to our building redevelopment project.
Raising this £10,000 will allow us to push the start button on a project that will provide an accessible entrance for Govan Old, a lift between floors, accessible toilets, plant room facilities for a new heating system and some rentable office accommodation that will give us a long-term revenue to support our free community museum.
We need to raise £10,000 before the end of September, a big challenge but the benefits will be huge. There will also be loads of opportunities for the public to take part. Would you like to channel your inner Indiana Jones and try your hands at a real archaeological excavation? Are you interested in the natural history of the Clydeside? We’re going to be working with environmental and conservation experts in order to better understand the animals and plant life that lives within Govan Old’s historic graveyard. We’re recruiting a very special team of Graveyard Guardians, volunteers who will help us monitor and protect our natural oasis, the oldest surviving green-space in the heart of urban Govan.
Please give generously. Every pound counts and you could help secure the long-term future of Govan Old, the Early Medieval Govan Stones and Govan’s 1,500 year-old graveyard. With your help we can make sure that Govan’s heritage is protected for the next 100 years: https://tghts.enthuse.com/cf/graveyard-guardians-showcasing-govan-s-archaeology
